چکیده

When a plane undergoes a deformation that can be represented by a planar linear vector eld, the projected vector eld on the image plane of an optical device is at most quadratic. This 2D motion eld has one singular point, with eigenvalues identical to those of the singular point describing the deformation. As a consequence, the nature of the singular point of the deformation is a projective invariant. When the plane moves and experiences a linear deformation at the same time, the associated 2D motion eld is still quadratic with at most 3 singular points. In the case of a normal rototranslation, i.e. when the angular velocity is normal to the plane, and of a linear deformation , the 2D motion eld has at most one singular point and substantial information on the rigid motion and on the deformation can be recovered from it. Experiments with simulated deformations and real de-formable objects show that the proposed analysis can provide accurate results and information on more general 3D deformations.

Harmonic Deformation Model for Edge Based Template Matching

The paper presents an approach to the detection of deformable objects in single images. To this end we propose a robust match metric that preserves the relative edge point neighborhood, but allows significant shape changes. Similar metrics have been used for the detection of rigid objects (Olson and Huttenlocher, 1997; Steger, 2002). To the best of our knowledge this adaptation to deformable ob...

Using a Non-prior Training Active Feature Model

This paper presents a feature point tracking algorithm using optical flow under the non-prior training active feature model (NPTAFM) framework. The proposed algorithm mainly focuses on analysis of deformable objects, and provides real-time, robust tracking. The proposed object tracking procedure can be divided into two steps: (i) optical flow-based tracking of feature points and (ii) NPT-AFM fo...

The Integration of Optical Flow and Deformable Models with Applications to Human Face Shape and Motion Estimation

We present a formal methodology for the integration of optical flow and deformable models. The optical flow constraint equation provides a non-holonomic constraint on the motion of the deformable model. In this augmented system, forces computed from edges and optical flow are used simultaneously. When this dynamic system is solved, a model-based least-squares solution for the optical flow is ob...

Devon: Deformable Volume Network for Learning Optical Flow

We propose a lightweight neural network model, Deformable Volume Network (Devon) for learning optical flow. Devon benefits from a multi-stage framework to iteratively refine its prediction. Each stage is by itself a neural network with an identical architecture. The optical flow between two stages is propagated with a newly proposed module, the deformable cost volume. The deformable cost volume...

Deformable Object Tracking Using Optical Flow Constraints

In this paper, we present a method for deformable object tracking that exploits the entire image information using the optical flow equation instead of working with discrete feature points. Our method starts from the optical flow constraint and first estimates global transformations in a hierarchical framework. Elastic deformations are then estimated separately using deformable meshes and spati...
